so my parents signed me up for horse-back riding lessons and i’m really excitedd!! i need my own helmet and those special riding clothes. any places or websites where i could get some??(: I can’t wait for my first lesson!!

so i have never ridden a horse in my life. i’m a girl and i’m 19. my new boyfriend and i are going horse back riding at the end of may and also to the stampede for a weekend… what would be appropriate attire to wear and what would be appropriate things to bring? my boyfriend is a cowboy and i really like him so i don’t want to make a fool out of myself thanks for the help

Boots, and not the fancy kind. Hiking boots work well and of course cowboy boots are made for this. If you have none and can’t borrow any, sneakers work, but make sure that they will stay on as you will use your feet to help guide the horse. Jeans are a must, and again, a pair you didn’t spend alot of money on, as they will stretch and it could get dirty. As for the tops, I usually wear a nice tank top that will not leave a funky tan, and use sunscreen liberally- even if it doesn’t seem that hot. The best thing to wear on top is flannel. A button up shirt is good. This will be light and airy, but try not to take it off as hot as it may be – sleeves are a must outdoors and any good cowboy would agree. A hat is good too, one that ties around the neck is best but not a must, especially if you don’t want to look dorky. I wear a fisherman’s hat because it’s more comfortable but I don’t know what a cowboy would say about that. Bring water, sunblock, bug repellent and maybe a snack for yourself. Don’t forget to bring your fun and have a blast!

I am looking for some good english riding clothes, dont care about price. Just some good ones for schooling shows, must be cute like vests and stuff.

I LOVE and by far prefer Tuffrider breeches (the ribbed fabric kind)…for me, they last longer, look better, breathe better, and fit better…and are cheap sometimes….

As far as top wear, I’d say Joules (expensive though…it looks good if you can afford it, but I don’t bother…). Polo shirts always add a nice professional touch, and you can have them embroidered with your stable’s name and logo, and your name.

Get a proper pair of jodhpurs, because riding in jeans is horrible. You get bruises and rashes from the rubbing and any metal clips etc. Or, wear soft trousers. Also, hard hats should be supplied but if they’re not- get one! Its the single most important piece of equipment, and trust me, they work. Horka hats are good. Flat shoes and a loose t shirt are fine, unless you decide you want to take riding seriously, in which case you can buy boots and stuff at a later stage. Enjoy your riding….

I am a guy and I like to go horse back riding, the only problem is that I’m always hitting the saddle with my *man parts* and I have no idea what I should do so that I’m not in pain every time I ride. Any ideas or suggestions, much appreciated.

Well fitted blue jeans not baggy, loose jeans ( Wrangler brand is a good sturdy brand) also briefs not boxers to keep everything in place.
You need to hold your body weight with you thighs, not just plop down in the saddle. of course riding you find that your muscles will be used differently than in any other exercise & you will have pains until you get accustomed to riding.

Ok, so I am going to a show in a month or two, but I need light breeches, a white shirt with detachable collar and a gray, white or navy blue riding jacket (maybe even tall boots since the old ones don’t fit me that well…Any suggestions on nice horsey websites to visit that sells horse riding apparel?
