Please help! I have joined teh horse riding club of my school, and i need to know what sort of clothes are best for horse riding. The most comfortable! Horse rding is horrid for itchy legs!
Get a proper pair of jodhpurs, because riding in jeans is horrible. You get bruises and rashes from the rubbing and any metal clips etc. Or, wear soft trousers. Also, hard hats should be supplied but if they’re not- get one! Its the single most important piece of equipment, and trust me, they work. Horka hats are good. Flat shoes and a loose t shirt are fine, unless you decide you want to take riding seriously, in which case you can buy boots and stuff at a later stage. Enjoy your riding….

Depends on the style. Is it Western? Is it English? Is it Spanish?
For Western jeans (probably with chaps) would ok, but seamless jeans or special riding jeans you get at your western riding shop would be better. I’m not that much into Western, I was trained English. A Western rider might give better advice.
For English you *need* special riding pants with leather pads on your knees or even better from under your knees up to your butt, this greately helps your posture.
I’d opt for something like this: http://www.tackinthebox.com/Products/Rider/cl304.htm
Also, you need a helmet for security and I’d advise you to get a pair of gloves or the reins will excoriate your skin between your fingers. And this *hurts*.
I wouldn’t buy boots yet because a good boot (and do NOT buy plastic or gummy, go for leather because otherwise you will either freeze or sweat and you won’t be able to keep proper posture because the material will be slipping around on the saddle, leather will make it easer to you to keep seated properly) because they’re really expensive. I’d go for a good shoe and small chaps instead (shoe like this: http://www.tackinthebox.com/clothes/Sweaters_etc/cl_00thumbnails_clothing3.htm ). You need something with a little bit of a heel so you won’t be caught in the stirrups if you fall.

you didn’t say what type of riding… english? drasage? western? barrel racing?…
anyway… I ride western and I would suggest, for guys, relaxed fit blue jeans… light weight hiking boots… comfortable long sleeve shirt…
if you ride english… stretch britches, riding boots, loose fit long sleeve shirt…
for the ladies, in either case… naked!… or at least, topless! god I love to watch ‘em bounce when they canter!

I would recommend soft, stretchy pants, boots with heels(helps prevent your foot from slipping through the stirrup when you fall off.), a shirt and a helmet.
