I want to start horse riding lessons but my mum doesn’t even know I want to how could I persuade her to let me because I don’t think she would because she would say it was too expensive?
They are expensive, especially depending on your area. Currently the cheapest lessons I have found are $30 per 45 minutes. More commonly they are $40-$60 per hour private.
You can cut costs by-
1. Taking group or semi private which is usually about half price.
2. Go to tack auctions and sales to buy your pants, helmet, gloves, and boots cheaper. Helmets must always be unused and in the box as well as ASTM approved.
3. You can offer to work in exhange for some lessons.
4. Go on a bi weekly instead of weekly program.
5. Some places if you pay for a certain amount in advance you will get a reduced rate.
The pro’s to horse riding
1. You will become stronger
2. Competition will teach you good sportsmanship
3. It teaches responsiblity and accountablity
4. Its a good way to get a scholarship if you become good at it
5. It gets you out of the house and if you work there your parents can have some quiet time.
6. Great for making friends and getting connections.
good luck

horse riding is a great sport and really offers the opportunity to make new friends, learn and improve skills and to work as one with a horse.
also why not offer to do more jobs around the house and help out your mum. it may take some time and persuasion, but when my parents let me start horse riding, it was the best decision of my life and i wouldnt trade it for any other sport in the world xx
first of all, why dont you tell your mum that you are interested in starting horse riding? you never know, she might let you start straight away, but i will admit it is expensive. if your mum says it is too expensive, why not try to find a few stables near you with good lesson prices and ask what you do in a basic lesson. a good thing to look for a stable that will teach you how to control the horse with legs and hands, safety around the horse and maybe even a bit of horse care. if you like the sound of a particular stables the cost could be even further reduced if you decided to work at the stables and would give you invaluble experience working with horses
